Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026

This policy explains what personal data the Baltic Initiative on European Reform collects through this website, why, and what rights you have. We keep the amount of data to a minimum.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Baltic Initiative on European Reform, registration No. 40008330010. For any question about your data, write to info@balticinitiative.eu.

What data we collect

  • Visiting the website. Like every web server, our hosting provider (Hostinger) records technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used only to keep the website secure and working, and is deleted automatically after a short period.
  • Contacting us. If you write to us by e-mail, we use your name, e-mail address and message only to reply to you.
  • Events. When you register for an event, we use the data you provide (such as name, organisation and e-mail) to organise the event and to contact you about it. Registration may take place on a separate form or platform; its own privacy terms then also apply.
  • Photos and video at events. Our events may be photographed or recorded and published on this website and our social media channels. If you do not wish to appear, please tell the organisers at the event or write to us.

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Legal basis

We process data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running the website and communicating about our activities (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), your consent where we ask for it (Article 6(1)(a)), or steps needed to register you for an event (Article 6(1)(b)).

Cookies and similar technologies

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and fonts are loaded from our own server, not from Google.

  • Strictly necessary cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for our staff when they log in to edit the website. Ordinary visitors do not receive them.
  • Accessibility settings. If you change text size, contrast or font with the Accessibility button, your choice is saved in your own browser (local storage) so it is remembered on your next visit. It is not sent to us. You can remove it with “Reset to default” or by clearing your browser data.
  • YouTube videos. Videos are embedded in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube (Google) may set cookies or store data in your browser only when you start playing a video. See Google’s privacy policy.
  • Links to other websites. Links to media articles, social networks (LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, X) and share buttons take you to other websites with their own privacy and cookie policies. No data is sent to them until you click.

How long we keep data

We keep e-mails and event registration data only as long as needed for the purpose for which they were collected, or as required by law (for example, for reporting to funders), and then delete them.

Who receives data

Our hosting provider Hostinger processes website data on our behalf within the European Union. We may share event participant lists with event partners where this is necessary to organise the event. Data is not transferred outside the EU/EEA except where a service (such as YouTube) does so under its own safeguards.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights, write to info@balticinitiative.eu.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia (Datu valsts inspekcija, www.dvi.gov.lv).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our website or activities change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
